THE PYRAMID ATLANTIC BOOK ARTS FAIR

My favorite venue for showing my screens is definitely at the Pyramid Atlantic Book Arts Fair. Held in the beautiful downtown Silver Spring Civic Building, the space is fabulous and very conducive to large excited crowds of book arts, printing arts and paper fans. Visitors and participants run the gamut of interests-- from beginner binders and letterpress printers up to the top names in our field. A the last fair in 2010, my booth was next to Paul Johnson's! Paul, the champion of non-folded popup technology was a huge draw for the fair, and while he was in the area he lectured at the Corcoran and at MICA. My favorite toolmaker was there too--Shanna Leino www.shannaleino.com. She makes fabulous elk bone tools and steel awls and burnishers. Here are pictures from the 2010 fair.

I will be showing about 10 screens and also have my bookbinding tools and supplies for sale. I hope those of you in the area will make a stop at the Fair part of your November 16-17-18 weekend! Go to:

My Etsy business, wrenhaventools.etsy.org is the best place to see and buy all of my tools for book and paper. Here is a picture of my best selling bookbinding tools available on Etsy:

Brass tools for cutting 90 and 45 degree angles
Using the "Nevada" shaped tool and a scalpel to trim a mend on a book page

Here is one of the screens that will be at the fair. The paper on the back is a modified paste paper technique done on clay coated Japanese kozo. The front has shibori style decoration with very fine gold mica powder. The price is $650.00 It measures 14" high by 50" wide. The hinges are gold mica and the edging is stained poplar.

See you at the Fair!
